Lucy's Rose - for Sharon - Debut of a New SRE Rose

Some years ago, when I was doing a lot of silk ribbon embroidery, I wanted to make a rose that was different from all that was on offer at the time.  I came up with Lucy's Rose. At the time I had ideas of marketing it some day but never did anything about it, and now the time has passed when I want to.

Then I discovered Stitchin Fingers, and began my journey with Tast.  I have been amazed at the amount of work and the generosity of Sharon B in what she has done for all her followers over the years.

Through this community I have seen so much stunning embroidery  beginning with that of Sharon  B. herself, and been embraced by so many nice people who have become friends.  So I decided to give this rose to Sharon, in return for her untiring efforts towards us all, as well as all the wonderful ladies who are members of this great community.  it is now hers to do with what she wishes.

Go to Stitchin fingers and you will find a new tab across the top of the Home page called Tutorials .There you will find how to make this lovely rose.  I look forward to seeing many beautiful interpretations and improvements by  my talented cyber friends.

If you are not already a member, please do join, you will gain so much and your lives will be enriched by the experience. Sharon conducts some wonderful classes, and you can find details on her Pintangle page. She has a class beginning soon on Silk Ribbon Embroidery.

Thank you Sharon for giving me something to look forward to each and every day, and thank you to all those lovely women who give me encouragement, generous compliments, and a reason to get back into embroidery.

Ufo's finally finished

There is nothing like having a deadline to get things done. I am off to the coast in a couple of days to visit family so after completing my challenge, got in and finished off the standard rose. Thank goodness that is out of the way.

Found more photos

Since I have given most of what I have done over the years, all I have are photos. I have just found another two photos of embroidery I have done for the jewel boxes and thought I would put them up and at least I know where the photos are now. There is another under Silk Ribbon Embroidery.

embroidery for box lid

I am very pleased with the result of this silk ribbon embroidery. It looked stunning inside the lid of the box, which I also lined with the green taffeta. I remembered to take a picture of the work, but keep forgetting to get photos of the finished box.

Silk ribbon

I was going to put up some pictures of my meadow embroideries, but will have to put it off. The better photos are on my other computer which is in hospital getting the graphics card sorted....

The pictures I have on this computer are not clear. Unfortunately I did not have a digital camera years ago and my camera and skills were not good before I had the pieces framed.

In the meantime I was going through my photos and found this photo which I thought I had lost of a little bag I made which I embellished as a gift for a friend. I should have photographed it flat before I pulled the drawstring.

Unfinished Topiary

This is the embroidery I started over the weekend with my friend Di. Thought I should get to and finish it. Decided to embroider an oval frame round it, and "thought" I would have enough ribbon to complete it...but you know what "thought" did. After doing this much of the oval, realised I would not quite have enough ribbon.

Anyway have put it up anyway, but will have to wait until I can get more of the ribbon, which I will hopefully be able to do, when I will complete it and put up a new picture.

Weekend with my friend Di

Well this was the busiest weekend I have had for a while, catching up after 2 years, doing embroidery and setting up my blog, it has been busy busy busy. She is a whiz with the computer and was a great help.

Di bought over her CQ blocks which are lovely, and I showed her a couple of new ways to do ribbon roses. She loves the ribbon work as I do and it wasn't long before she was away. We looked at books and photos and here are photos of some ribbon work I have done in the past.

After some time being in the creative doldrums, this weekend has now inspired me to get back to it.
