Well the latest move is over and I have unpacked and re-arranged everything. Could not have done it without once again the help from the angel in my life, Dianne, her lovely husband, my son and his wife, and of course "Himself". I cant believe how much they achieved in such a short time.
We were "allowed" finally to get back into the unit to measure up and have another look round before moving in to see a cleaning company van outside and a man in the kitchen vigorously rubbing away at the cupboards. This was the Wednesday, so thought "good at least it will be clean". Were we to be disappointed!!!!
On the Friday, collected the keys, and discovered to our horror the place needed cleaning!!!!!!! The ceramic stove top was putrid, as was the sink, the oven, with even a cocky in one of the drawers. When we got to the bathroom, it was yuk yuk yuk.
We had collected a load from the old flat on the way here, but there was no way we could bring anything in. Talk about a "man wipe over clean"...I think they need a new cleaning person. As for the female who lived here before, don't think she has ever heard of a scrubbing brush. I wont even mention the toilets apart from saying they are now pristine with the help of a lot of chemicals.
My hands are like sandpaper and the tips of my fingers are just so sore from all the cleaning products, because I did not have any rubber gloves when I began cleaning. However getting into it meant I could have a shower without shuddering or wearing rubber thongs on my feet. I am not even going to go into the problems with the agent I had to deal with. Poor Di is still stressing about her....we got to a stage where we would have been justified with vengeance.
So here is the new home for the cane suite. The morning sun streams into this room which is great because winter has arrived here with a vengeance. The outlook is out over a park where there is always some sort of activity of people walking, children playing, or young boys training for football so this is a pleasant spot to sit and sew.
I have met a nearby neighbour, and she seems a really sweet lady it is only a hop skip and a jump from the shops which could be dangerous on the purse strings, but I do have a 12 month lease this time so here is hoping I do not have to move again then....if I do there will be some serious culling done.
It is so good to be back on line I have missed contact with all my cyber friends.

Glad you are in your new place!! I like to give any place we move to a real good cleaning no matter how clean it looks!!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed Shirley.
ReplyDeleteCleaner? What cleaner? You have done wonders with your new home and made it your own. Just looking at your paintings on the side of this blog! So beautiful, you are a talented lady! Good luck in your new home. Di.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting! I'm with you on needing to make my own dirt....without a trace of someone elses dirt! yuk! I'm going to be doing some embroidery soon as I am in the mood to do lots of hand work. :)
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope this move will see you settled for quite some time Shirley. It's been rather an upheaval for you. So sorry to hear about the clean/not clean issue. You wonder about people sometimes don't you!! The new living area looks lovely, and most inviting. I hope you find enjoyment there soon with your needles and threads.
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh, I didn't realize you were moving again! I have been bad about posting and following up with friends lately! I am glad to see you are settled again and hope you don't have to move again! Your furniture looks lovely!

ReplyDeleteMy Shirley, this is really something - about the cleaning. It is a scandal!!! But your morning room looks wonderful, the morning sun coming in - this is lovely. The furniture, so cosy looking. I hope with you that it will last for years now!
ReplyDeleteThat is terrible, but I'm so glad you are finally in and settled. I'm looking forward to reading all about your "good" adventures in your new home.
